Jewish Group Coordinating Christmas Volunteers For 'D25'

WASHINGTON (AP) --Hundreds of volunteers from the Washington, D.C. Jewish Community Center will be working in the community on Christmas Day in the district, Maryland and Virginia.

The volunteers will be working in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia on Wednesday -- preparing food for the homeless, hosting Christmas parties at shelters, serving meals, wrapping gifts and visiting senior citizens.

The scheduled activities also include blood donation and a bone marrow registry, which helps match those in need of bone marrow with potential donors.

The volunteer effort, known as "D25," is in its 27th year. People interested in volunteering can contact the Washington DCJCC directly or work through more than 60 social service agencies.
