Man Injures Himself At D.C.'s L'Enfant Plaza Station

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Authorities in Washington say a man has been taken to the hospital after he fell at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel says it happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday and that the man was apparently under the influence of alcohol. Stessel says the man was apparently leaning against a small wall that separates the platform from the wall of the station when he passed out and tumbled backward.

He injured his head and back but is in stable condition.

The man was not identified.
