Bob Haynie: NFL Playoff Predictions

After struggling down the stretch, I pulled myself together and finished my college and pro football football picks regular season with a bang.

My only loss was in college as Maryland (+2.5) lost to Marshall--31-20--in the Military Bowl down in Annapolis. Randy Edsall's Terps finished with a 7-6 record in the their final campaign in the ACC. With most of their offensive talent returning, Maryland should be able to put points on the board as they move to the Big Ten. Can they hang in there defensively? I'm not sure.

With a lowly regarded recruiting class coming in, reinforcements are not exactly there for the ready. I think Edsall needs to win right out of the gate to generate momentum in his program.

I was 5 and 0 with my NFL predictions. The Jets (+5.5), Giants (-3.5), Steelers (-7.5) and Patriots (-10) all covered as they defeated the Dolphins, Redskins, Browns and Bills.

Unfortunately, my other correct choice was the Bengals (-7) over the Ravens. Cincinnati's 34-17 victory ended Baltimore's reign as World Champions. The Ravens failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2007 and will have a lot of work to do this offseason to improve.

My final record was 52-42-2.

Not bad. I'll call it acceptable.

Now, on to the second season.

The quest for the perfect week continues.

College:

Missouri (+1.5) Oklahoma State ( Cotton Bowl )
Clemson (+3) Ohio State ( Orange Bowl )

NFL:

Chiefs (+1) @ Colts
Eagles (-2.5) Saints
Bengals (-6.5) Chargers
Packers (+2.5) 49ers
