Anne Arundel Police Cite Taxi Drivers In Operation

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police say they issued 17 civil code violations to taxi drivers during an undercover operation at transit stations.

County police and Amtrak police conducted Operation Correct Fare on Friday morning.

Undercover officers posing as commuters requested service from cab drivers at an Amtrak station, Arundel Mills Mall and at the Cromwell Light Rail stop.

Police say they recorded 17 code violations, including for refusing to take a fare, failing to turn on the fare meter, grouping passengers for profit and trying to charge excess money.

The violations have been reported to the county commercial licensing division for further administrative action.
