Steve Davis: Which Would You Rather Have--HOF Or Super Bowl?
Shannon Sharpe made a very interesting point on Sunday. He said you are not allowed in the conversation of greatest QB ever if you haven't won a championship.
It's interesting because he said it on the same set with Dan Marino, who might be in the conversation had he ever won a ring. Many would say that Marino is the greatest QB to never win a title.
That leads to the question, what would you rather be a Super Bowl Champ or Hall of Famer?
I have gotten into arguments about this because athletes always say the title. I don't believe it for a second. Are you telling me Marino would trade places with Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson or even Jim Plunkett, who won two. No way!
53 players win a Super Bowl every year (actually more when you take into consideration injuries, practice squad players, etc) but only 6 or so get into the Hall of Fame each year.
I say that it's safe to say I would trade my Super Bowl ring for a Hall of Fame bust, but I don't believe they really would.
