SCOTLAND, Md. (AP) — Maryland Natural Resources Police say a worker was found dead at Point Lookout State Park.

Police say the body of Donald Gothard, 56, of Lusby was found at a wastewater treatment plant at the park in St. Mary’s County on Monday morning.

Gothard, a maintenance worker for Maryland Environmental Services, logged in at work on Sunday. But when he didn’t return home after his shift, his wife called police, who labeled him “critically missing” due to medical issues.

A co-worker found Gothard at the base of an 18-foot ladder at the plant early Monday. Police say they don’t believe any foul play is involved, but the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.

A Maryland Occupational Safety and Health inspector was at the scene Monday.
