Man, 59, Arrested For Distribution & Possession Of Child Porn
SILVER SPRING, Md. (WJZ)— A 59-year-old man was arrested at his Silver Spring home for distribution and possession of child pornography.
Carlos A. Arevalo was arrested at his home in the 400-block of Irwin Street Tuesday morning on three counts of distributing and three counts of possessing child pornography.
A trooper assigned to the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force began the investigation several months ago after locating what was believed to be child pornography on a file-sharing network. The investigator was able to trace the computer activity back to Arevalo's home.
In October, Maryland State Police investigators searched Arevalo's home and found digital evidence confirming Arevalo had been distributing and was in possession of child pornography.
An arrest warrant was obtained and served on Arevalo Tuesday morning.
He is awaiting a bond hearing before a court commissioner.
If convicted, Arevalo could be sentenced up to 45 years in prison.
