Former Frederick Deputy Charged In Wife's Death Ruled Suicide

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A former Frederick County courthouse deputy faces a reckless endangerment charge after his service weapon was used to kill his wife. Her death was ruled a suicide.

The Frederick News-Post reported Friday on the charges against George Salibi, 50,of Frederick.

His lawyer says Salibi plans to plead not guilty to the charges after returning from a trip to Lebanon.

Salibi was working as a non-sworn, civilian sheriff's deputy when his wife Grace died last February from two gunshot wounds to the chest. An attorney for her family says relatives believe Salibi's involvement goes deeper than the charges suggest.

He is charged with one count of reckless endangerment and two counts of leaving a loaded firearm within reach of a minor child, including the couple's young son.
