Md. Health Exchange Reports Retroactive Numbers

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Maryland's health exchange says 1,407 households have registered for a retroactive coverage option offered by insurers in the exchange.

Dori Henry, a spokeswoman for the state health department, said the number released Friday accounts for all the households that registered under the option that was announced last week to help people who tried to enroll in a private health plan but couldn't because of problems with a website.

Henry says it could take a couple of weeks to know how many people the 1,407 households represent, as the enrollments are finalized and transmitted to carriers.

Residents who registered will be able to enroll in a plan of their choice with coverage retroactive to Jan. 1.
