Woman Who Chased, Hit Boyfriend With Car Sentenced

OAKLAND, Md. (AP) -- A woman who prosecutors say got into her ex-boyfriend's car, drove after him as he ran away and hit him has been sentenced to four years in home confinement.

Maranda White, 21, of Oakland was sentenced last week in Garrett County Circuit Court.

White pleaded guilty to assault in September.

Prosecutors say in March 2012, White and her ex-boyfriend met in Oakland so she could return some of his property. Authorities say an argument ensued, White tried to hit the man, and he ran away.

Prosecutors say White got into the ex-boyfriend's car and chased him across railroad tracks, a road and sidewalk into a park, where she hit him.

The Times-News of Cumberland reports that the boyfriend suffered leg injuries that required surgery.
