Towson Downs Charleston 68-61 In OT

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- Jerrell Benimon scored 20 points Saturday, including seven in overtime, and Towson beat the College of Charleston 68-61.

Charleston led 27-24 at halftime, shooting 33.3 percent to Towson's 29.4 percent. Towson pulled ahead 40-38 on a 6-2 run, but Charleston was back in front 46-45 on a trey by Willis Hall. Towson's Mike Burwell hit a jumper to tie it at 53 at the end of regulation.

Benimon's back-to-back layups gave Towson a 61-56 lead with 1:15 to play in OT, and his free throw made it 64-58 with 42 seconds to go. Charleston's Canyon Barry hit a 3-pointer to make it a three-point game, but Towson's Four McGlynn hit two free throws and Marcus Damas made two more for the win.

Burwell scored 14, Rafriel Guthrie 12, and Towson (16-8, 7-2 Colonial Athletic Association) outshot Charleston 44.7 percent to 31.9 percent.

Hall led Charleston (12-13, 4-6) with 13.
