Presidents' Day Is School Day In Some Md. Districts

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- At least five Maryland school districts say they'll hold classes on Presidents' Day to make up for excess snow days.

Maryland Department of Education spokesman Bill Reinhard said Tuesday that schools in Charles, Kent, Queen Anne's and St. Mary's counties will be in session Monday. The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports that Washington County Public Schools also will hold classes Monday.

Reinhard says a number of other districts are also considering canceling the Presidents' Day school holiday because they've gone over their allotted snow days.

He says some districts also are looking at holding classes on the Monday after Easter, another state holiday.
