Mike Eruzione Joins Ed And Steve To Talk About The Winter Olympics And His Time After The Miracle On Ice

Eruzione is best known as the captain of the 1980 Winter Olympics United States  national team that defeated the Soviet Union in the famous “Miracle on Ice” game, in which he scored the game-winning goal.

Steve asked Mike how his life would be different if he wasn’t the one who had scored the goal. Mike said it wouldn’t have been too different because in the end all that mattered is that the U.S. team would have won regardless of who scored.

Ed asked Mike if there is another sport or competition where the a Win or Loss can have such a huge political impact? Mike responded that it’s unlikely that there would be a sports event where there would be such a huge political impact because the U.S. was such a huge underdog.
