Man Charged With Assault After Pointing Gun At Woman & Her Dog

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) -- A man has been arrested and charged with assault after pointing a gun at a woman walking her dog.

According to police, a woman was walking her dog in the Cromwell Fountain Apartment complex when she encountered a man who was also walking his dog. She saw the man was pointing a gun at her dog and in her direction.

Words were exchanged and the woman left the area, but was able to see where the man with the gun went. She called police and was able to describe the man.

When officers arrived, they found a man matching the suspect's description. The gun and a set of Nunchaku were found on the man.

He was identified as Norman William Walter Wieland. He's been charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and several handgun charges.
