New Charges In Hagerstown Dentist's Drugs-And-Sex Case
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- A Hagerstown dentist indicted last year on federal charges of trading drugs for child sex is facing additional charges in state court.
The Herald-Mail reports that Vagar Choudry of Germantown had a bond hearing Thursday in Hagerstown. He was released on $50,000 bond.
Choudry has pleaded not guilty to the federal charges.
His lawyer on Thursday questioned the strength of the state indictment. It alleges that in September 2012, Choudry solicited a minor for sex and exposed himself in his dental office waiting room.
The federal indictment alleges that a year later, Choudry offered a confidential informant $250 to procure a prepubescent girl for sex.
Prosecutors say Choudry gave the informant a pain pill prescription in exchange for arranging the meeting at a Hagerstown motel, where Choudry was arrested.
