Road Crews Set To Deploy During Storm In Md., Va.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Transportation officials are set to deploy road crews for the latest winter storm to move through the Mid-Atlantic region.

The latest winter storm is expected to bring rain, sleet and snow Sunday night. Forecasts for snow accumulation range from 3 to 10 inches across the region.

In Maryland, Prince George's County plans to deploy road crews beginning Sunday at 8 p.m. County crews will concentrate on primary roads and major collector roads first before moving into residential areas.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is warning travelers to avoid or limit travel on Sunday evening. The agency says VDOT crews will be treating and clearing roads as necessary. In northern Virginia, VDOT says its crews work on high-volume roads and in subdivisions at the same time.
