Winter Storm Warning & Winter Weather Advisory in effect for snow later Sunday afternoon through midday Monday (5 p.m. – 2 p.m.). Accumulations of 2-4″ in the metro area, 1-3″ north of city,  but 6″ or more southern parts of viewing area, where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect.

Sunday will begin partly sunny, but clouds will quickly thicken as the low currently over northeast Texas moves to central Tennessee by the evening. Precipitation will expand rapidly east-northeast ahead of the low, reaching western Virginia later Sunday morning and the metro area by later Sunday afternoon. We expect the metro area to be on the northern periphery of the snowstorm, with snow beginning late Sunday afternoon.

The snow will continue into early Monday afternoon. Total accumulations will be 2-4″ in the metro area,  1-3″ north of city, but 6″ or more in southern parts of the viewing area.
