Md. Reviews Process That Ended In Baby's Death
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Maryland Department of Human Resources says it's reviewing the process that returned a Frederick toddler to her parents three weeks before she died, allegedly from abuse.
The review was revealed by Secretary Ted Dallas in a letter Sunday to The Washington Post.
The Frederick News-Post reported Thursday that the agency is studying the case file and interviewing staff.
Dallas says the department also will determine whether any flaws in the child welfare system may have contributed to the March 15 death of 21-month-old Anayah Williams.
Parents Frankie and Stephanie Williams were charged with child abuse after the father allegedly acknowledged hitting his daughter that night.
The girl had been in foster care for more than a year, following injuries her parents had attributed to a fall from a bassinet.
