2 Firefighters Hurt Battling Cumberland Blaze

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- The Cumberland Fire Department says two firefighters sustained relatively minor injuries battling a blaze that destroyed a vacant house and damaged two occupied homes.

City Fire Marshal Shannon Adams says the fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire Chief Donald Dunn says one of the injured firefighters suffered a minor leg injury but continued working.

He says the other was treated for a shoulder injury and released without a hospital admission.

Adams says the cause of the fire hasn't been determined.

He says damage is estimated at $70,000 to the structures and $25,000 to the contents.
