CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) — Officials in Allegany County are looking for a man who hit and then robbed an employee at a gas station in Cumberland.

The Allegany County sheriff’s office says it happened around noon on Sunday when the suspect confronted an employee at the Sunoco gas station at 10307 National Highway. The sheriff’s office says the suspect first hit the employee in the face as the employee was leaving the bathroom. The suspect then took an undetermined amount of cash from the employee and fled on foot.

The sheriff’s office describes the suspect as a black male wearing a black jacket and black jogging pants.

The sheriff’s office says the gas station employee was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

An investigation is ongoing.
