Poll: Brown With Big Lead In Governor's Race

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- A new poll in the Maryland governor's race shows Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown with a big lead over his Democratic primary rivals.

Tuesday's Washington Post poll found that 46 percent of likely Democratic voters supported Brown. Twenty-three percent backed Attorney General Doug Gansler, and Del. Heather Mizeur was third with 16 percent.

A survey in February also put Brown ahead by more than 20 points.

Among likely Republican voters, the poll found Anne Arundel County businessman Larry Hogan leading with 35 percent, compared to 19 percent for Harford County Executive David Craig, 13 percent for Charles County businessman Charles Lollar and 5 percent for Del. Ron George.

The poll of 1,202 Maryland residents was conducted from June 5-8 and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
