Adventists Will Close Maryland Printing Operation

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The Seventh-day Adventist Church says it's shutting down a Hagerstown printing plant that employs about 100 workers.

The Herald-Mail reported Wednesday on the announcement by the General Council of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, based in Silver Spring.

The announcement follows a vote Tuesday by the constituencies of the church's Review and Herald Publishing Association in Hagerstown and the Pacific Press Publishing Association in Nampa, Idaho.

The church says the financially troubled Review and Herald will wind down operations at it 80-acre facility in a process that could take several months.

The church says some employees and assets may be transferred to Idaho.
