Prince George's Officer Shoots, Wounds Armed Man
BLADENSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say an officer shot and wounded a man wielding a knife in the Bladensburg area.
A county police spokeswoman says the man approached an officer aggressively and refused orders to drop the knife. The man's knife was described as a large knife with a 10 to 12-inch blade.
It happened just before midnight Sunday or early Monday in the 5400-block of Annapolis Road.
Police say officers corralled the man briefly and shocked him with a stun gun. Then police say the officer "was forced to fire" his service weapon. The officer was not injured. The wounded man was taken to a hospital.
It was not clear what caused the incident or why officers were in the area.
