Rex Hoggard came onto the Scott Garceau show today to talk about US Open golf, including Michelle Wie’s recent LPGA Women’s Open victory.
“She’s just a better player now.” Said Hoggard, a golf reporter of over 15 years, said on Wie’s development as a player leading up to her victory. “It’s funny, I did an interview with her earlier this season , and her swing coach David Leadbetter talked about how much more of a complete game she had. She couldn’t have won at Pinehurst without a complete game.”
On Tiger Woods announcing his intent to return: “If he’s ready to come back, and something tells me this time around he’s much more interested in what the doctors had to say, and if they’ve given him the green light, if he feels like the work he’s done on the range down in South Florida is good enough, then I’m going to take his word for it.”
An Orioles fan, Rex also talked about the birds, commenting on the 3-5 loss they took against the Yankees this past Friday. “That one was tough to swallow. All the injuries obviously, with Matt Wieters going through what he’s going through it’s tough right now, but at least we’re winning. I can at least camp on that right now.”
