Injured Kayakers Charged In Prettyboy Dam Incident

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Baltimore Department of Public Works says two men who were rescued after being injured while kayaking at the Prettyboy Dam have been charged with trespassing.

DPW says Baltimore Environmental Police charged Paul Hare and Stephen Sparks, both 21, after with the misdemeanor offense after they fell 200 feet on Sunday at the dam in Parkton in Baltimore County.

Authorities say Hare was treated and released for a large head laceration. The department says Sparks was seriously injured and first responders carried him in a Stokes basket up the cliffside at the dam.

Sparks was taken to Shock Trauma.

Investigators say both men were in a no trespass zone and were boating without permits.

Baltimore City owns three reservoirs, including Prettyboy, in Baltimore County.
