WEATHER BLOG: Severe Weather Possible

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening out ahead of an approaching cold front.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed central Maryland in the “slight risk” category for severe t-storms Tuesday with the main threats being damaging winds and isolated severe hail.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Tuesday for Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties. The bulk of the action will likely approach the I-95 corridor this evening, bringing heavy downpours and other aforementioned threats.

Be sure to be “weather smart” and monitor local watches and warnings. We will be tracking these storms this afternoon on WJZ-TV at 4, 5, & 6 p.m.
