The Top 5 Sports Movies Of All Time
There are so many great sports movies we easily could have made this a top 100 list, we didn’t.
Here are our selections for the TOP 5 Sports Movies of all-time (according to some guy).
Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray, Chevy Chase (before he was considered a jerk) & Ted Knight make this classic take on summer, golf, teen romps & suburban life in the 80’s the best golf movie ever made despite a goofie gopher named Chuck Rodent! Snickers in the pool anyone?
4. Slap Shot
Another comedy, but how can Paul Newman & the Hanson Brother not make this list? They don’t make ‘em like this anymore, almost makes you want to watch minor league hockey…almost.
3. Bull Durham
Could have been “Field of Dreams” here, but we refuse to put two Kevin Costner Films in the top 5! Some of the greatest Baseball scenes & conversations ever filmed & even sports guys need a little romance in their sports drama once in a while, especially when it’s Susan Sarandon.
2. Raging Bull
Robert De Niro as boxer Jake LaMotta is a no-brainer. Awesomely shot in black & white, the story of LaMotta’s self-destructive rage, jealousy & animal impulses is an American classic.
The 1976 original is THE underdog saga of American sports cinema. Sylvester Stallone wrote & starred in his own star making vehicle mirroring Rocky’s rise to fame. So many classic lines & scenes from “Yo, Adrian!” to the run up the stairs & beef slab sparring. none better.
The best of the rest:
Field Of Dreams
The Longest Yard (Original)
Bad News Bears
Web Administrator for CBS Radio Baltimore – Ravens, Orioles & snark enthusiast.
