Rehabilitated Turtle From N.J. Released In Md.

BERLIN, Md. (AP) -- A sea turtle that was rehabilitated in Maryland after being found stunned by the cold in New Jersey has been returned to its natural habitat.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports the sea turtle was released Saturday at Assateague State Park. The paper says the turtle swam quickly into the ocean after being carried to the shore by volunteers from the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

The Kemp's Ridley sea turtle was found eight months ago in New Jersey and was named Iceman by staff at the National Aquarium. At the time, it was rescued it had pneumonia and lesions on its shell as well as a cut under a flipper.

The turtle was outfitted with tags and a microchip before it was released.
