WEATHER BLOG: Stormy Sunday

An active day and night is in store for the region over the next 36 hours. Current surface map has a warm front across the central Virginia into the Ohio Valley where a low pressure over Chicago. Another low pressure is northern Wisconsin with a cold front stretching back into the Northern Plains. These low pressure will move east and form into one low pressure this evening in northern Ohio. Meanwhile a strong shortwave in the base of the trough currently over Minnesota will move into central Michigan this evening. This will set the stage for the active weather in the Northeast today.

Current radar shows showers across southern PA and MD. This area of rain will move through eastern PA and MD by mid-day while a few spotty showers will move through eastern NY. By this afternoon we will see the sun return and it will get very warm and humid. Temperatures will rise into the middle to uppers 80s with dew points in the upper 60s. The RealFeel will be in the 90s this afternoon. That will set the stage to allow for showers and thunderstorms to develop across central PA/NY. Most of the afternoon will remain dry from 2pm-8pm. There could be a few showers or thunderstorms that form during the evening hours that will work their way into the western suburbs. As we head into tonight the showers and thunderstorms will increase.
