Loan Aid Offered To Western Md. Flood Victims
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Small Business Administration is making low-interest loans available to people whose homes or businesses were damaged by flooding in two western Maryland counties in June.
Gov. Martin O'Malley says the funds will help ensure that communities in Washington and Allegany Counties recover what they lost and thrive moving forward.
The loans are for repairing physical and property damage.
The June 12 storms caused flash flooding in the Washington County town of Clear Spring and the Allegany County communities of Cresaptown and Bowling Green.
Emergency management officials say the dollar amount of damage didn't meet the threshold for seeking additional disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
