Man Shot By Md. Officer Released From Hospital

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Frederick police say a man shot by an officer during a traffic stop has been released from the hospital and is now in custody.

Forty-five-year-old Roy Turner Jr. was shot by an officer on Saturday night after police say he struck the officer with his car.

Police spokesman Lt. Clark Pennington tells The Frederick News-Post that Turner was released from the hospital on Monday morning. Electronic court records show Turner is being held on $200,000 bail.

Pennington says the officer is recovering at home from his injuries. The officer's name will be released later this week.

Police say the officer approached Turner's car after observing suspicious activity and that Turner drove off and struck the officer. The officer fired into the car, and Turner was hit in the arm.
