Orioles Add Meek, Gausman, Saunders And Kelly To Roster

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Orioles add several payers as rosters expand for the approaching 2014 playoff hunt.

The Orioles announced Monday that they have recalled RHP Evan Meek from triple-A Norfolk and RHP Kevin Gausman from the GCL Orioles. The Orioles have also selected LHP Joe Saunders from the Tides and recently acquired infielder Kelly Johnson has reported to the club.

Meek, 31, went 2-0 with 16 saves and a 1.94 ERA (41.2IP, 9ER) in 39 games for the Tides this season, striking out 37 and walking four. He has also appeared in 15 games for the Orioles this season.

Gausman, 23, is 7-6 with a 3.84 ERA (82.0IP, 35ER) in 15 starts for the Orioles this season. He is scheduled to start this afternoon's game against Minnesota.

Saunders, 33, posted a 1.50 ERA (12.0IP, 2ER) in 10 appearances for the Tides, holding left-handed hitters to a .211/.286/.316 line (4-for-19). He made eight starts for Texas earlier this season. Saunders will wear #51.

Johnson, 32, was acquired from Boston on Saturday. He will wear #14.
