Md. Food Bank Kicks Off Hunger Action Month

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Maryland Food Bank is kicking off Hunger Action Month.

The organization is holding a news conference Wednesday in Baltimore with Maryland State Police and the Department of Transportation.

Throughout the month, residents can donate nonperishable items at police barracks and certain Department of Transportation offices across the state.

The kickoff event will start a month of activities designed to raise public awareness of hunger.

The centerpiece is the food bank's Be a Voice Campaign. It's an interactive, online multimedia collaboration urging Maryland residents to volunteer as well as donate food and funds in an effort to end hunger.
