Here are 5 of the greatest NFL Miracle plays in NFL History:
5. 1978 – Miracle at the Meadowlands
The play that made the “Victory Formation” a staple of every game. The Giants had the game with just seconds left up 17-12 ; the Eagles had no time-outs, the credits were running & the Giants, instead of kneeling & running the clock out ran a running play. A botched hand-off to Larry Csonka by Giants QB Joe Pisarcik recovered by Eagles CB Herm Edwards & 26 yards later the Eagles had the victory.
4. 2000 – Music City Miracle
In the 1999-2000 playoff the Buffalo Bills took a 16-15 lead with 16 seconds left in the game. On the kick-off the Titans lateraled the ball (a lateral that Bills fans still watch in slo mo & contest) the ball to Kevin Dyson who beat the coverage for a 75 yard TD & a Titans victory.
3. 2012- Mile High Miracle
Under a minute to go in the 2012 AFC divisional round & the Ravens looked like their season was over down 35-28 to the Broncos. On 3rd & 3 from his own 30 yard line Joe flacco unleashed a monster bomb to Jacoby Jones for the tying 70 yard TD play. After that is was Peyton Manning doing what Peyton tends to do in big games & the Ravens walked off after a double OT victory on their way to a 2nd Super Bowl Championship.
2. 2008 – “The (Helmet) Catch”
Who was gonna stop the undefeated New England Patriots on their way to being canonized as “Destiny’s Team?” It was Eli Manning to David Tyree’s helmet in Super Bowl XLII! Nobody called that. Perhaps the most exciting play in Super Bowl History & the pivotal play in the Giants game winning drive as they upset the Patriots 17-14
1. 2010 – Miracle at the New Meadowlands
One of the most exciting comebacks ever in NFL history was capped by an improbable dropped punt return TD by the Philadelphia Eagles DeSean Jackson as time expired after a 21 point 4th quarter comeback versus the New York Giants.
