Police Arrest Md. Mom In Deaths Of Her 2 Children
CHEVERLY, Md. (WJZ) -- We are learning more disturbing details surrounding the deaths of two children in Prince George's County. Police say their mother admits to killing them and now we know how.

The 24-year-old mother of two is now charged with two counts of first degree murder. Police say she admitted to placing bags over the children's heads to suffocate them.
Twenty-four-year-old Sonya Spoon remains behind bars in Prince George's County after police say she smothered her children to death.
"Without getting into too many particulars, there were bags that were placed over the children's heads," said Major Cesar Pachecho.
According to Cheverly Police, they were called to the home on September 1 after they say Spoon threatened to kill herself and her daughter.
"We are aware of a call for service about a week ago where the Cheverly police department [went] to that address. It is our understanding they brought Sonya in for a psychiatric evaluation," said a police official.
It was just after 2 a.m. Sunday morning when Cheverly police were called to the home on the 62-hundred block of Forest Road where the children, a brother and sister, were found barely breathing.
"A family member that was in the residence was sought out by the suspect. It's that family member who located the victims," said Pachecho.
The children, one-year-old Ayden Jonathan Spoon and his sister, three-year-old Kayla Renee Thompson, were taken to Children's Hospital in Washington DC, where they died. Their mother admitted to police she suffocated them.
"As a result, Sonya Spoon was charged with two counts of first degree murder for the death of her two children," said Pachecho.
People who live in the tight-knit neighborhood were stunned by the crime.
"It's real sad, real sad," said a neighbor.
Little is known about Spoon, but according to her Twitter, she was adopted from Russia and brought to the United States when she was just three years old.
Spoon is being held without bond.
The children's fathers have been notified about their deaths.
