9/11 Victims Honored At The Inner Harbor

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A very solemn anniversary of what happened 13 years ago.

Jessica Kartalija reports.

First responders from New York and Baltimore marched together from the  Fort McHenry visitors center to the historic star. to honor those who lost their lives on this day 13 years ago.

"It was so moving, it was so incredible to be part of here and to be a part of all the festivities," one woman said.

"I thought it was very powerful, inspirational and something Americans need to be reminded of," another woman said.

The 9/11 flag that was salvaged from the wreckage is now on display at the fort.

"There are patches in this flag that have been sewn in every state in the United States," an official added.

Historians have said that the symbolism of the flag being raised by first responders after 9/11 is likely reminiscent of the hoisting of the flag following a night of bombing at Fort McHenry.
