Death of Towson Univ. Student Ruled Accidental

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The medical examiner has ruled the Sept. 6 death of a Towson University student accidental.

According to The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, 18-year-old Julia Margaret Ratnaraj died because of head and neck injuries.

Investigators believe she fell backwards into a sliding glass door at an off-campus apartment. There was no evidence of foul play.

At 11:36 p.m. on Sept. 6, firefighters responded to the 300 block of East Joppa Road where they found Ratnaraj unresponsive. She was taken to St. Josephs Medical Center where she was declared deceased.

Witnesses told police that she had been drinking and then had smoke tobacco from a hookah. Ratnaraj had recently started her freshman year and lived on campus. The apartment where she was found was a friend's.
