Rob Long: Boom; Ray Rice & Chris Davis Back To Back

All week long, Baltimore sports fans heard more about the Ray Rice saga than they did about the match-up between their Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Then, after a 20 point beat down of their rivals on Thursday night you would think the fan base could talk about the actual game and not about an incident that took place in February. After all, would else could go wrong right? Yeah, right.

On Friday, we received information that Chris Davis would be suspended 25-games for using amphetamines. Davis had used amphetamines in the past under an Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) but did not ask for one or was disallowed one this year. Yet another blow for the Baltimore sports fan to endure.

While callers of the Vinny and Rob Show were calling his suspension a possible bright spot for this team, pointing to Chris Davis' low batting average and high strike out total. Though I disagree with that, I don't think that's the point here at all. All week long Charm City has been getting lots of national attention. This is not the attention we want.

Before, the attention was of a football player caught on camera hitting his fiancee. Now, the attention is having a former All-Star first baseman now suspended. It doesn't matter what the reason is. It really doesn't matter if you believe he could have helped this team. The point is, yet another black eye for our dear city.
