The Orioles Bandwagon, Is It Okay Jump On?

The Bandwagon, Is it Okay Jump On?

Ken, Jeremy and Femi discussed the Orioles making the playoffs and how the fan base has changed since 2012's playoff run. One younger caller said it was pretty rough seeing a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon for the Orioles but he has now learned to accept it, and he loves seeing the support for his team.

Ken comments about the whole bandwagon controversy by saying, "people want to criticize fans for jumping on a bandwagon, [but] when a team looks like they don't care about winning , why should fans spend money on the product?"

Femi adds his feelings about the bandwagon.  "It's a lot easier to spend money on something that has value.  If it takes winning to get people involved, then that's what you're suppose d to do."  He also said it's great for the ones that have hung in there all the time they were losing but, "let the other people that are jumping on, create a little room for them." Ken said "people have limited economic budgets, as far as allotting for entertainment, and when the Orioles entertainment was quite frankly not entertaining, you're going to tell them to spend the money on it anyway?"

Jeremy says, "I'm feeling pretty good about our chances, doesn't mean we get to the World Series, but I like where we're at." The guys talked to another caller who was 48 and he said he lived through the "crap years" and it's not that they are bandwagon fans, "it's just that a lot of people were forced off the wagon, and when you have a team that goes go wire to wire, they fired Davie Johnson after he was a good coach and that turned a lot of people off."

Ken adds "when the team is not even giving the impression they are attempting to try, that turned me off." "A true test to the success of the Orioles this year is the fact that there are people calling in about the Orioles and not just the Ravens." Femi said.

"I say this about all sports and as a fan, if your team is giving you the opportunity to root in the post season, I think they're doing it right" Jeremy said.
