Fans React To O's Clinching AL East Title

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— The Orioles have clinched a spot in the playoffs!

Jessica Kartalija has more on the excitement.

It's been 17 years since the Orioles held the AL East title, and now they are just one game away of regaining the top spot.

Fans arrived at Camden Yards as gates opened with hopes of seeing the O's make history.

"We're gonna take a lot of pictures. Go crazy. Be real excited," another fan said.

"We've been waiting for this 17 years," said a fan. "Her first game and she's here to witness this with us."

It was a picture perfect evening at the park with fans dressed all in orange.

"This is exciting. I've been watching the Orioles since I was a kid," said a fan.

"Big time Orioles fan so being here to support the team is awesome," a fan said.

"We're from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina," one woman said. "We're just diehard Orioles fans, and we came all the way here on our vacation to see the game."

"I'm from Philadelphia," a man said. "I'm a big O's fan, and we're here for the champagne tonight. We want to spread the champagne tonight . . . in my mullet."

Even Toronto fans say they'd be happy to see history made in Baltimore on Tuesday night.

"I guess we're happy to be here though. It's fun to be part of history," a Blue Jays fan said.

With first pitch being tossed Tuesday night, fans couldn't be more excited.

"I'm hoping we'll get to see them closer to clinching," one fan said.

A winning season has Orioles fans looking forward.

"We bought tickets tickets not even knowing how important tonight was," said a fan.
