Orioles Fever Spreading After O's Clinch A.L. East Division

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Orioles fever is spreading through the streets of Baltimore. O's fans gathered Thursday for the first of several "We Won't Stop" rallies.

O's fans are pumped for playoff action just days after the team clinched the A.L. East division.

Gigi Barnett has more on all the excitement and anticipation.

The last time fans saw the Orioles clinch a division title was back in 1997. Now, 17 years later, they all say it's time to get pumped up for the playoffs.

The magic from the night the Baltimore Orioles clinched the American League East championship continues Thursday as the team kicks off a series of citywide parties aptly named the "We Won't Stop" pep rallies.

"We're going all the way. We're going to bring this one home," said Killebrew Brown.

"We have come too far and the motto says it best -- we won't stop," said Bruce Davis.

Orange and black color the city.

"I'm excited to see everybody is posting about on Facebook and how they're all going to wear orange to work tomorrow," Mandy Fager said.

The Inner Harbor's Hard Rock Cafe hosted the first pep rally. Free t-shirts were a thank you gift to fans, the O's bird graced many pictures and former O's center fielder Al Bumbry inked items from fans.

He says if the team keeps playing like champs, they're going far this year.

"They find a way to win, they're always in ball games. And if their starting pitching continues to do as well as it's done, I think they'll be fine," Bumbry said.

"I've been an Orioles fan my entire life. Grew up here in Baltimore," Chris Dew said.

That's why Dew is making sure his 22-month-old daughter, Catie, is part of this O's history-making moment.

Chris: "Who's your favorite baseball player?"

Catie: "Davis!"

Over the next two weeks, the Orioles say they will host pep rallies at pubs and restaurants in Federal Hill, Canton and Fells Point.

WJZ will bring you complete coverage as Baltimore cheers on the Orioles, the new American League East champions, as they begin their playoff run.
