WEATHER BLOG: Sunday

This morning we have two weather systems affecting our region today. We have an area of low pressure off the east coast racing northeastward. This low pressure has spread showers during the overnight area across eastern New York.

There are some lingering showers that will move through early this morning across Long Island. These showers will continue to move north and the rest of the rain with the low pressure system will remain off shore. We also have a low pressure moving into northern Quebec with a trailing cold front through the Ohio Valley this morning. This cold front will sweep towards the east throughout the day and cross our region by early tonight. This will spread showers and thunderstorms from west to east during the day through central PA/NY/MD. The broken lines of showers and thunderstorms will approach the I-95 corridor by this evening. Places west of I-95 will have the best shot of seeing showers and thunderstorms from 4-6 while places east of I-95 will wait until after 6pm. Behind ahead of this cold front we will see an unseasonably warm day with high temperatures in the lower 80s. places in NJ and into eastern NY will see a good deal of high level clouds this morning and then they will break for sunshine by mid-day. Places west of I-95 will see a fairly decent amount of sunshine. The front will pass through tonight and the winds will shift out of the west tomorrow. The winds could get breezy by the second half of the night as the pressure gradient is the tightest. The pressure gradient relaxes a bit as we go throughout the day as high pressure builds into the Ohio Valley. With the westerly flow and the cold air aloft over the warm Great Lakes we could see a morning shower possible in the Poconos
but right now we will leave it as a mention. Pops are really low but it can not be ruled out. Otherwise it will be a much cooler day with dry weather for the region. High temperatures will be 6-10 degrees cooler tomorrow than we they will today.
