Police: Drug-Dealing Partner Charged In 2013 Stabbing Death Of Md. Woman & Dog

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- It's been more than a year since a Davidsonville woman and her dog were stabbed to death inside of her home. Now Anne Arundel County police say they have the murderer in custody---and they also say the victim and the killer were involved in a business relationship dealing in drugs.

Rochelle Ritchie has the latest.

According to police, the murder victim had a history of dealing in drugs for a long time. Police say the killer was a buyer and the victim was a supplier.

Thirty-seven-year-old Terrence Proctor is behind bars, charged in the bloody murder of Nicole Burgess in her Davidsonville home.

It's a murder that stunned neighbors.

"The day it happened, there was a great police presence. There were helicopters overhead," a neighbor said.

It was March of 2013 when police say two people found Burgess suffering from multiple stab wounds. The murderer also took his rage out on her dog; it was also stabbed to death.

After months of investigations and witness testimony, police discovered Burgess and Proctor had a relationship dealing in marijuana.

"I would describe her as being a mid-level drug dealer," said Captain Herbert Hasenpusch. "According to information obtained during our investigation, they were both involved in dealing drugs."

"We are not dealing with a personal amount use of marijuana. The quantities involved with our victim are not personal use quantities," said Anne Arundel County Police Chief Kevin Davis.

According to police, Burgess had been a long-time marijuana supplier.

Her family did not want to speak about the drug operation.

"She's my niece and I really don't want to respond to anything. I'm just glad they found the person. I just don't want to say anything else," said her aunt.

Proctor was picked up in Hyattsville after being pulled over by police. He is now charged with first and second degree murder, as well as manslaughter. He is currently being held without bail.

Anne Arundel County police say Proctor's arrest brings the number of 2013 homicides solved to 100%.
