WEATHER BLOG: Sunday

An extremely deep trough is moving through the eastern half of the Nation with the base of the trough swinging through the Mid-Atlantic today. This will allow for our coldest temperatures to occur this morning and then slightly rise throughout the day. But this will not help as this will be the coldest day of the week. An area of high pressure over norther Florida will shift our surface winds out of the southwest today but high temperatures are going to struggle to reach 60 degrees along I-95 and remain
in the 50s in the suburbs. We will see a mostly sunny sky today so the sunshine will feel nice but we will still see a breeze though which will allow for the chill to remain around. Tonight will be another chilly night with clear skies and overnight lows in the upper 40s along I-95 and upper 30s in the northwest suburbs. Tomorrow that the low pressure system will continue to retrograde to the west and move another cold front through the Mid West. However we will be ahead of the cold front and have deep southerly flow with the high pressure moving off the east coast. Our 850mb
temperatures do climb up which will allow for our temperatures to climb about 8-10 degrees warmer than today. Overall it will be a nice day across the region with no chance of rain and warm weather. Tuesday the cold front will move into the Ohio Valley which will allow for showers especially in the afternoon where they will be more
numerous. A shortwave will round the base of the trough in the Ohio Valley which is going to move the cold front through the region on Wednesday.
