'I Love Lucy' Comes To Hippodrome's Stage

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Sixty-three years ago today, "I Love Lucy" made its TV debut. It was one of the most popular CBS shows ever and now " I Love Lucy: Live on Stage" is at the Hippodrome.

Wednesday, Jessica Kartalija had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with the lead actress and watch her turn into Lucy right before our eyes.

It was one of the most beloved shows in television history and had Lucille Ball at the heart of it all.

"I love broad slapstick stuff and I always looked up to her as a genius comedienne," said Thea Brooks.

Now Brooks has the honor of being Lucy in the stage adaptation of the hit show.

"I love what she does so I think it's a role that I didn't know I was going to play, but I also feel it was meant to be in a way," Brooks said.

She invited us to watch the incredible transformation of her---as an actress in her 20s---to the iconic Lucy. half an hour later, she was ready and topped it off with Lucy's signature updo and wardrobe. This Lucy is ready for the spotlight.

"I Love Lucy: Live on Stage" is at the Hippodrome through October 26. It made its TV debut in 1951.
