Md. Woman Wins San Giorgio Pasta Contest, Brings Recipe To Little Italy

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A Severna Park woman has turned her homemade pasta into big bucks, and she brought her now famous Italian dish to the Inner Harbor on Tuesday.

Ron Matz has more on a recipe for success.

The San Giorgio food truck stopped at the Inner Harbor. Good food is on board.

This pasta party was a chance to taste Kristie Schley's prosciutto wrapped stuffed shells.

"I've always had a love for stuffed shells. I wanted to make it a little special. I love the combination of brie and prosciutto, so that's how this recipe came together," said Schley, San Giorgio winner. "What really makes it decadent though is it's wrapped in a slice of prosciutto and then an Alfredo sauce with melted brie."

The creamy brie sauce helped Schley win $5,000 in the pasta maker's 100th anniversary contest.

"We hosted the contest. There were multiple entries from the area. They were judged. We had three finalists that came for a cook off. We did the judging and Kristie Schley was the winner," said Roland Keh, Amicci's restaurant.

"I didn't believe it when I heard the news. We had the cook off at Amicci's. I heard someone say 'this is a combination I never heard of,' so I thought for sure it was the other two women who were competing with me. I was shocked," Schley said.

Mmm, mmm, mmm, Schley's delicious homemade pasta will be on the menu at Amicci's in Little Italy for the next few months.

"Her dish is really good. It's delicious. We're going to feature it on our menu at Amicci's for a few months. Our customers will give us immediate feedback, and

I'm sure they're going to be very happy," Keh said.
