Another Baltimore Cop Charged With Assault, Misconduct

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— For the second time this week, a Baltimore police officer has been charged with assault and misconduct in office.

Officer Terrell Carter was charged Thursday in a criminal information with second degree assault and misconduct in office.

Police say on Jan. 1, the victim got into a verbal dispute with Officer Carter while in a holding cell in the Southwestern District. Carter is accused of using a key to enter the holding cell and punch the victim.

This comes one day after Officer Vincent Cosom was charged with assault for the seemingly unprovoked beating of Kollin Truss and perjury for allegedly lying on a police report, saying Truss had attacked him first. Video of the beating outraged city leaders.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Baltimore Police Department and the State's Attorney's Office. A criminal information is not a finding of guilt. A person is innocent unless and until proven guilty.
