Ravens Look To Improve Secondary With Release Of Chykie Brown

After their gut-wrenching loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Ravens return to work to prepare for the Tennessee Titans. After a few road games, Baltimore is glad to be back at M&T Bank Stadium.

When you give up 43 points to your arch rival on national television, change is coming whether you like it or not. The Ravens chose their sacrificial lambs on Tuesday when they released Domonique Franks and Chykie Brown. The two cornerbacks have struggled in recent weeks and were exposed a great deal the past few weeks. The Ravens activated Tramain Jacobs from the practice squad and claimed former Lion Danny Gorrer off waivers. Gorrer played with the Ravens a few years back and they were reportedly pleased with the way the corner played in Detroit.
The Ravens still have holes in their secondary with young safeties Matt Elam and Terrence Brooks, but they believe they are a better team now than they were last week.
Ray Rice appeal to be heard this week
The Ray Rice saga may be nearing a close as the former Ravens running back is set to have his appeal heard this week. Roger Goodell as well as some Ravens personnel will be involved in the proceedings as the commissioner may be required to appear as a witness. He’ll then be forced to speak under oath about the situation that took place between Ray Rice, the league, and the Baltimore Ravens. It’s a situation that the commissioner didn’t want and Rice and his camp couldn’t be happier about the circumstance. It is widely believed that Rice’s suspension will be overturned. Whether he recoups his loss wages from his release remains to be seen.
AFC North is toughest in the NFL
When you’ve begun the second half of the season with a winning record and find yourself at the bottom of your division, you know the other teams in said division are pretty good. So is the case with the 5-4 Baltimore Ravens. With the division race as tight as it is at this point in the season, spirits are high for all involved. But all teams realize that the margin for error is as tight as it’s ever been. Baltimore may have lost two straight division games, but with a soft schedule the rest of the way they know the AFC North title is still very much up for grabs.
