Dick Vitale Previews The College Basketball Season

Dick Vitale of ESPN came on the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Jason La Canfora to preview the College Basketball Season which starts this week. Our very own Maryland Terrapins tip off the season Friday night at home against Wagner, Jason asked Dick to preview Maryland's inaugural season in the Big Ten. "It's going to be a tough run there. Obviously right now when you look at Maryland and Mark Turgeon, they're in a tough conference… I'm going to be honest with you right now; I have a difficult time with some of the landscape of college sports right now. Maryland to me belongs in the ACC. But you gotta do what you gotta do and let's move on."

ESPN has Dick picking his Final Four before the season even starts. Scott asked Vitale to give his preseason prediction for who will be the National Champion at the end of the year. "It's a guessing game right now. But I will tell you guys, Kentucky is awesome baby. Kentucky is so loaded, I mean its second team could be in the top 10 in America…Think about this, he's got NINE McDonald's All-Americans. Are you kidding me nine!? Nine, that's five on the first team and four on the second team. You don't have to go to Harvard to figure out that you have four guys who are All-Americans on your second team. You got a chance to be a pretty good basketball team."

And finally Scott asked if teams are still sleeping on Coach Turgeon's former team, the Wichita State Shockers. "Well they've got a great back court… And I'll tell you the back court of Van Fleet and Baker they can play with anyone. They are one of the top five back courts in America and they've done a phenomenal job at Wichita State."
