WEATHER BLOG: Record May Be Broken

A cold night on tap for the entire region is underway. The record low for tomorrow for the Baltimore area is 20 degrees set back in 1936. We expect the low to reach about 19 which will of course be a new record low for the date. There is some better news however, by Wednesday afternoon with some warming sunshine and less wind the temperature should get above freezing for a few hours! Even warmer temperatures are expected on Thursday as we get into the mid to upper 40's. Don't get too used to it, because Friday we will be back into the 30's again. There are strong indications that the jet stream will begin to retreat northward, and allow much warmer air to move over the entire eastern United States. By Saturday we will be back in the 40's and on Sunday some upper 50's will be seen! With that warmth will also come the threat of showers however, not the worst tradeoff? So if you can survive these cold temps this early, it's likely you'll be able to handle much of what winter has in store for us in the months ahead!
